Frequently Asked Questions
It is very difficult to answer specific questions about pest behavior. Animals and insects are living things and their behaviors are very complex and dependent on several variables. If you click on the informational tabs for each pest you can get a base overview of the major pests and how we remove or deter them. For more specifics you can send an email or call to talk to a certified company representative.
Following are a few of the most common operational and general service questions received by the Pest Control Authority (PCA):
What services do you offer and in what areas?
We provide general pest, termite and wildlife control and repair/exclusion services to all sectors of the economy. Our main service areas are in Charlotte, Pineville, Matthews, Huntersville, Cornelius, Mooresville, Lake Norman, Monroe, Concord, Lake Wylie, Rock Hill and surrounding areas in North and South Carolina. We also perform special projects (on a case by case basis) in all of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Eastern Tennessee. We have completed large projects in the past in almost every state east of the Mississippi River.
What are your hours?
PCA’s regular daytime hours are from 7am – 5pm Monday – Friday. We have a full time night crew for commercial pest control that works from 4pm – 4am Sunday –Thursday.
Do you work weekends? Holidays? Nights?
PCA has an on call emergency service for weekends, nights and holidays. This service is mainly for wildlife emergencies where animals have entered a living/work space and present a health hazard to people. Weekends, minor holiday or early/late appointments, if necessary can be arranged on a case by case basis. The main holidays we observe are Christmas, New Years, Easter, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, Labor Day and Memorial Day.
How soon can you come?
PCA provides services to the medical, governmental, commercial and private sector. We are structured so that we can respond quickly and efficiently. Emergency services for situations where a pest presents an immediate health hazard are responded to within two hours. Other service calls are scheduled at our client’s convenience usually within twenty-four hours. Live office personnel are always available on the phone during the day. At all other times, on call personnel can be reached by telephone.
Are you part of a big chain?
No, we are a locally owned and operated company in Charlotte since 1980.
Are chemicals/pesticides safe?
Yes, PCA only utilizes pesticides as part of an Integrated Pest Management Program. Integrated pest management combines exclusion to harborage areas, elimination of food and/or water, mechanical removal and then insecticides in the forms of baits, dusts, liquids, foams, growth regulators and aerosols/fogs. We utilize the safest, greenest materials available to achieve the desired results. By requiring all of our technicians to become state certified and to receive ongoing training, proper application and safety are continually stressed and utilized.
Will we need to leave the area when you treat?
Sometimes this may be necessary, especially if a temporary, pesticidal fog (for bedbugs, fleas, mosquitos) becomes necessary. Each treatment is customized for your unique situation. Preparation and communication are all organized before any service is performed. Safety protocol and post application follow-up are a standard part of any treatment. If you are not present we will leave notice and also communicate directly with you via phone or email if necessary
Can you give me a price over the phone?
Yes, we can but we prefer not to. Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. Arbitrary pricing is not a good start to that end. There are so many variables a few of which are: type of pest, location of pest, degree of infestation, type of construction, available harborage, food, water, local environment, seasonal weather variations, price considerations, etc.. A price quote given over the phone would only be a guess. If we perform an on-site detailed analysis and have an intelligent exchange with you we can customize a plan to meet your expectations and budget concerns. Of course, if we have a current working relationship and knowledge of your property, phone pricing would be a much more likely option.
Do you have any warranties or guarantees?
Yes, we provide all types of services from one time solutions to ongoing periodical preventive
/corrective programs. We stand behind all our work and offer several different types of warranties depending on your needs, budget and preferences
What method of payment do you accept?
PCA accepts cash, check, debit cards and credit cards. We can mail or email invoices and receipts. You can set-up automatic bill paying. Contact us if you would like to discuss your payment options.
